La Flèche bantams are an ultra rare breed hailing from France where their standard sized counterparts were bred for meat quality and taste. Unfortunately, this is one of the reasons they were almost eaten to the brink of extinction in WW2.
Fortunately for the bantams, they are almost exclusively bred as an ornamental variety with their emerald black plumage, snow white ear lobes, and unique double combs.
